Conservation and Biodiversity

The Olentangy River is home to a vast array of stunning wildlife, and gorgeous plants.  On one of the hikes that inspired this blog we found countless geese, mallards, wood ducks, a garter snake, a great blue heron, and a snowy egret.  This was on the short stretch between the OSU stadium and the 5th avenue dam.  Wouldn't everyone be a little bit happier if they took a little time each season to walk down the river and look at the beauty and elegance of all the wildlife and wildflowers?  And what's better than seeing wildlife?....Being able to identify them!  The next time you take a walk to engage with the river I challenge you take some pictures of the flora and fauna that interests you, and try to identify them.  Post some picture in the comment section, and if you can't identify them, then perhaps someone else will be able to.  Here is a link to Olentangy Wetland Research Park, they have a great catalog of the flora and fauna in the area. Have fun with it!
